Time: Standing Still?
Okay. NOW the living room ceiling is done. I won't have to rip half of it down again, in pursuit of a phantom leak from the upstairs plumbing. A plumber came to the house and found no leak except from the toilet which coincidentally had started leaking a few weeks after ripping the tin ceiling down. He replaced some toilet parts, most significantly the vexing wax seal, fixing the leak. We kept a close eye on the pipes for the next couple of days, and finally I started re-installing the ceiling. It's all done now save for the really hard corner where the staircase pokes through the wall, creating two very difficult angles. I saved that task for Kia. But the ceiling's pretty much done. For real this time. Permanently. Finally. After five months. Hopefully.

OMG! Is it November already? The Zombeatles played their annual performance last night, so it must be. It went very well. Kia got to dress me up as a zombie, then later I got to play the drums like a zombie, which, if you haven't tried it, I heartily recommend. There were also bands pretending to be the Velvet Underground, the Ramones and the Clash/Madonna. I missed the Velvet band but heard the Ramones, and they were very good, convincing and bewigged, although the singer was a little on the short side. Then the Zombeatles played, lurched and gobbled the flesh. Then, the last thing was billed as "Madonna vs. The Clash", which promised excitement and violence. Instead, it was a bunch of Clash songs, then a bunch of Madonna songs, then a bunch of eighties songs by neither the Clash nor Madonna, such as that song at the end of the "The Breakfast Club". The singer portraying Madonna did a pretty good job. I hung around for their whole set because their drummer was using my drums.

Also, the Zombeatles video got featured on YouTube, bringing the Zombeatles untold exposure. I looked at the site and there were about three hundred comments. Reading them, I was enthralled. Many were positive, but there were also a lot that were along the lines of:

And so forth. Obtuse, subliterate, hostile. Typical internet stuff. Who are these people with such misdirected passion? Are they like this in real life? Or do they spend so much time in front of a computer screen typing misspelled words that they don't have a life beyond that activity? Do they talk like their comments suggest? If so, they would have to be afflicted with Tourette's syndrome. That's a LOT of people with Tourette's. ANYWAY, I'm guessing there were a lot of people who liked it and didn't bother leaving comments. Perhaps YOU would enjoy it, Gentle Reader. If you're bored sometime, go to YouTube and search for "Zombeatles". It's braintastic!
