This would have been sort of funny if I'd thought of it at the time
It must have been about eight years ago. At the time I was working at the old pewter works, down Park Street. The Wisconsin chapter of the Ku Klux Klan was planning a rally in the middle of town, thereby raising the hackles of the citizenry. When the day of the rally came, the rally didn't occur. It had been cancelled, the reason being that the several members of the Wisconsin Ku Klux Klan were passed out in a northern Wisconsin bar on the morning of the event. This was all in the paper. Jeff, the owner of the pewter works, commented on the news of the day.

"Here everyone was bracing for a big show of force by this supposedly fearful army of racists, and what do they turn out to be but a gaggle of rednecks all drunk, stupid and unconscious. Hilarious."

I agreed, probably with some witticism like "Yeah, for sure." But here's what I should have said:

"Ku Klux Klan? Pheh. Sounds more like the Ku Klux KLAN'T!"

I was sitting on the couch yesterday and "Ku Klux Klan't" for no good reason just zipped through my brain, and suddenly I was reliving that conversation from long ago and thinking how great it would have been had I had Ku Klux Klan't in my pocket then. It's sure funny how the mind works.

Speaking of pewter (well, actually, speaking of tin. Pewter is made mostly of tin. Also lead (but not always), antimony, copper, and trace amounts of silver and molybdenum. But you knew that.), we're done with our ceiling finally. We now have a tin ceiling in our living room, for a quiet, old-style elegance. The installation of the ceiling had been the impetus for our buying a nailgun, you see. Which somehow resulted in NO INJURIES over the course of four days. Although, the noisy air compressor scared the cats. But think how boring their lives would be if we didn't frighten them occasionally.

Also: KIERAN! BORN! FINALLY! To Melissa and Matt (not Melissa and Matt the saxophonists, you understand, but Melissa and Matt the new parents). Just under a week ago. They're all three doing great and we at Stevergo wish them well, NO, more than well, we wish them SUPER EXCITEMENT HAPPY FUN TIME LAUGHTER JOY! Three cheers for young Kieran! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

And maybe one more: Huzzah!
